Would you like more power outlets in your home?  Increased convenience is often the biggest reason people desire more outlets from extras in the kitchen to installing outdoor outlets for external use.

So if you have a room or want to utilise a part of your home that does not have enough outlets, please get in touch.

Ceiling Fans

Feeling hot?

Ceiling fans are a great way to keep cool and ventilate your rooms.  Rather than have the AC on all the time ceiling fans give an excellent alternative.  Energy consumption is also lower with ceiling fans compared to traditional AC units.

At Flaherty Electrics we are happy to discuss your needs and help you select the best ceiling fan for your requirements.  Ceiling fans come in a range of sizes and styles with or without lights so you are spoilt for choice.  If you have already purchased your ceiling fan no problem we can come along and install it for you.

Electrical Panels

Do you live in a property that is more than 50 years old?  Do you experience fuses blowing out on a regular basis or the circuit breaker keeps tripping?

It could be that you need a new electrical panel.  The electrical panel is the heart of your electrical system in your home and as such is a highly important component.

There are several dangers to be aware of if you have an old panel.  Firstly, and most importantly old panels can be hazardous where fires are a real possibility resulting in deaths or damage to the house.  Secondly, equipment such are computers and the like are vulnerable to damage.

The advantages of upgrading to a new modern panel is that the panel is fit for purpose.  A new panel will not only be safer but can adequately deal with the electrical demand placed on it from various modern appliances.  You will also remove the risk of damaging equipment and appliances.

If you are unsure whether your electrical panel is functioning safely and effectively we are happy to chat with you about that.

Exhaust Fans

Whichever room needs it, exhaust fans are an excellent way to extract and expel unwanted odors, smoke and excessive moisture.  Rooms will be left properly ventilated, dryer, smelling fresher along with having a reduced risk of mould growth.

There are many different rooms which could benefit from having exhaust fans including kitchens, bathrooms, showers, toilets, garages and workshops.  Flaherty Electrics can install all these plus larger ventilation systems such as required in an attic.

Circuit Breakers

Circuit breakers are like a safety catch, designed to trip if the demand is too much on the system or there is a problem.

In good working order circuit breakers will trip before damage is caused to your electrical system or appliances. Faulty circuit breakers on the other hand can be a fire hazard, failing to trip in the split second that it should leading to possible fires with potential loss of lives and damage to property and belongings.

The good news is Flaherty Electrics can easily identify faulty circuit breakers and repair or replace them quickly for you.

Domestic Appliance Installation

Many people may be tempted to ‘wire up’ their own domestic appliances but why run the risk of causing damage to the appliance?  Fully qualified and experienced we know how to quickly and safely install all appliances including your washing machine, cooker, hob, dishwasher etc.

Kitchen & Basement Additions

Are you looking to get an addition for your kitchen or basement?

For the best possible results it is advisable to get a fully qualified and experienced electrician in as early as possible when planning your project.  Flaherty Electrics are happy to advise and work alongside builders to make sure all the customer’s needs are being met.  We have seen projects near completion before an electrician has been called in for the wiring requirements!  Such projects run the risk of delays and increased costs as inevitably electrical code requirements have not been considered properly.

Telephone, Internet & Cable TV Wiring

Do you have a new flat screen TV you would like mounted to the wall?

Whatever your need Flaherty Electrics is experienced in installing the necessary wiring for all telecommunications equipment.  Give us a call today for a quote.

Knob & Tube Replacement

Knob and Tube wiring was the preferred electrical wiring system back in the first half of the 20th century and many old houses built pre 1950’s may still have this old style wiring.

If the knob and tube wiring has remained intact with no wires exposed then it can still work fine.  However, due to the increasing age of the knob and tube it’s likely that the rubber insulation will start to disintegrate leaving the wire bare.  When this happens there is a risk of fire or tripping.

Knob and tube can also struggle to cope with the modern demands placed on it with its 60 amp service limit. Nowadays 100 amps as a minimum is preferable but 200 amps is even better for future proofing your home’s electrical needs.  When knob and tube is replaced it is then possible to upgrade to a 100 or 200 amps service.

Should you be concerned about the condition of your knob and tube wiring please call us for chat.

GENERAL ELECTRICAL WIRING

Below are the more common general types installation requests:

  • Lighting Control Systems

Service Upgrades 100 & 200 Amps

Which is better a 100 or 200 amps service?

With the increasing demands these days placed on electrical systems from modern appliances and equipment we would recommend as a minimum having at least a 100 amps service.  However, in order to future proof your home’s electrical needs then a 200 amp service would be even better.

Please feel free to call us today to discuss your needs.

GFCI & AFCI Protection

GFCI stands for Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter and AFCI means Arc Fault Current Interrupter.

These are devices designed to shut off the electrical power if the current starts to travel through water or a person.  Without this protection if something goes wrong an individual can be electrocuted which could be fatal.

Contact Flaherty Electrics today to find out more about GFCI and AFCI protection.

We offer these electrical services in the Delaware, Montgomery and Chester Counties.
